GAMBLE HOUSE
Pasadena, Calif.

Built in 1908 for David and Mary Gamble, it "reflects the influence of Japanese design on architects Charles and Henry Greene (aka Greene and Greene) as they created the 'ultimate bungalow in the American Arts & Crafts style." Note the beautiful teak and mahogany woodwork.

Thomas Jefferson's architectural masterpiece, "an early example of American classic revival, is the only U.S. house on the U.N. World Heritage List. Innovations and inventions abound including skylights, an over-the-bed closet and a bedroom privy".
