Raptor Bay Golf Course
Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa

WB00682_.GIF (1507 bytes)Preserving nature's beauty posed the first challenge in designing the Raptor Bay Golf Course at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa. Southwest Florida's new 450-room Hyatt worked closely with the Audubon Society to develop an environmentally sensitive plan for the 18-hole course. Golf great Raymond Floyd incorporated 22 acres of lakes and over 200 acres of native vegetation into his tournament-quality design.

Unlike most Florida courses, Raptor Bay has no formal bunker or roughs. Instead, Floyd used natural elevation changes, native vegetation, mature trees, and grass mowed evenly to fairway height to challenge players' placement and control. The bald eagle, gopher tortoise, and other wildlife species that call the course home provide additional challenges - in defying players to keep their eye on the ball.
