This sprawling resort in the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area, along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, offers 36 hole of championship golf, all courses take advantage of both water views and natural terrain. The resort features a 120-slip marina, biking and hiking trails, four pools, playground areas, and fine and casual dining. Bluewater Bay's courses have received high marks from Golfweek, Golf magazine, and Golf Digest. The golf group package includes unlimited greens fees, a cart, and a deluxe villa for two nights with breakfast for $179 per person (Sunday to Wednesday arrivals) or $199 (Thursday to Saturday arrivals).

Camp Creek Golf Club

This new kid on the block is sure to be a contender with the best of northwest Florida's resort courses. Camp Creek is a part of the luxurious Beaches of South Walton, 18 small beachside communities tucked between the larger resort areas of Destin and Panama City Beach. Marriott Bay Point Resort Village

An outstanding 1,1000-acre resort, the Marriott Bay Point in Panama City is tucked away from the bustle of the beach on St.Andrew Bay and Grand Lagoon. Its Lagoon Legend course was named the second most challenging in America by Golf Digest. The resort's Club Meadows course is more forgiving. Regularly priced golf packages including deluxe accommodations plus breakfast each day, greens fees for 18 holes and a golf cart each day through December range from $179 to $209.

The Moors Golf Club

This Scottish links-style course, located near Milton about 15 miles from Pensacola, hosts the area's grandest golfing event, the Emerald Coast Classic, each March. The tournament attracts the finest players from the Senior PGA Tour. Sixteen rooms at the adjoining lodge are inspired by British Open courses, with pictures of past champions gracing the walls. Guests can enjoy the large-screen TV in the greatroom (set on the Golf Channel, naturally), wet bar, and golf library.  All rooms feature private balconies and include continental breakfast. Golf packages include a stay at the Moors Lodge and 18 holes for $155 per night double.

Sandestin Beach & Golf Resort

This lavish, 2,400-acre resort offers just about every type of accommodation imaginable, from golf villas to high-rise condos to sprawling multistory townhomes. This outstanding family resort is now owned by Intrwest, which is making its first foray away from ski resorts with this acquisition. The property offers 81 holes of golf plus a proshop, practice facilities and a sports bar. The property's newest course, the Raven Golf Club, has already been voted Best New Course for 2000 by Florida Golf News. The Sandestin offers a golf package that includes accommodations and daily rounds of golf for two or four on the Raven course. The rate for this package ranges from $242 in winter to $383 during the summer. Guests can also golf the 18-hole Links Course. Its hazards, such as playing into the prevailing Gulf Coast breeze and water on 13 holes, challenge even the most seasoned golfers. Greens fees are $57 for a guest and $77 per nonguest. The property's Baytowne Golf Club is a 27-hole course with panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay Greens fees are $57 for a guest and $77 for a nonguest. Golf Digest called the Sandestin's 18-hole Burnt Pine Golf Club one of the top 30 courses in Florida. Burnt Pine is open to Sandestin Resort guests only, and the greens fee is $77.

Tiger Point Country Club

Some of the prettiest waterfront views in Florida await golfers at Tiger Point on Santa Rosa Sound, east of Gulf Breeze. The Scottish-style East Course features an island green on the fifth hole. Shaded beneath tall southern pines, Tiger Point's West Course is especially well known for its outstanding back nine. The club also features a practice area, dual-directional driving range, restaurant, and banquet facilities. Greens fees range from $25 to $45 depending on the course and time of day.
