The Four Seasons Resort at Wailea THE AMERICAN CLUB The 236-room AMERICAN CLUB has three course: Whistling Straits, which hugs the shores of Lake Michigan, and two course at Blackwolf Run,Golfweek lists two of the three among the top 100 modern courses. All are designed by Pete Dye, who's know as 'Penal Pete' because his courses are so punishing. BOCA RATON RESORT & CLUB The FLORIDA GOLD COAST CLUB home to the Dave Pelz Short Game School, recently redesigned its Resort Course and has refurbished its Country Club Course. Guests also have privileges at Fort Lauderdale's Grande Oaks Golf Club, a must-see for Caddyshack fans. It's the course where the movie was filmed - with some alterations. The hole that Bill Murray blew up in the end is now a lake. THE FOUR SEASONS RESORT AT WAILEA The resort has three courses, the Blue, the Gold, and Emerald courses. If you're a golfer, you know Kaanapali and Kapalua, but it's crowded and windy and sometimes rainy on that part of the island. KIAWAH ISLAND GOLF & TENNIS RESORT This barrier island 21 miles from Charleston combines the wonderful old spender of Charleston and some really challenging courses. They're almost like Scottish links courses. Cougar Point, Turtle Point, and Osprey Point are all nationally-ranked. Golfweek has called Kiawah's Ocean Course, host of the 1991 Ryder Cup, one of the USA's best. For golfers, there's a great concentration of wonderful daily-fee golf courses, such as Strawberry Hills and Coyote Hills. The FOUR SEASONS HOTEL NEWPORT BEACH is associated with Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Coast. And for golf widows and widowers, diversions include Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, a stunning shoreline, and arts in Laguna Beach The WESTIN RIO MAR BEACH RESORT provides a convenient base for excursions to most of the island's new challenges, namely the Westin's own River Course. Pack up the clubs for a trip to Rio Grande's Berwind Country Club where Chi Chi Rodriguez used to be a caddie. RIO ALL-SUITE CASINO RESORT The Rio Secco Golf Club is in the foothills of the Black Mountain Range, 12 miles south of the resort. Designed by Rees Jones for the resort's guests, the course is fabulous. Rees is famous for fixing up courses on which U.S. Opens are played. Try to score a lesson from Butch Harmon, Tiger Woods' coach. But you'd better hit the jackpot. He charges $400 an hour. A pilgrimage for die-hard golfers. It's really where the game was born, so you get a sense of history - but make sure you're used to playing golf in the wind. From the Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle in Dornoch, the former retreat of steel tycoon Andrew Carnegie, you can take day trips to the Royal Dornoch, Tain, and Nairn golf courses. This town south of Phoenix is one big golf course. Check out the FAIRMONT SCOTTSDALE ROYAL PRINCESS 'Royal Tee' package, which includes two rounds at five partner golf courses. And Troon Golf - a golf development, marketing and management company - offers packages at its Troon North, Talking Stick, Legend Trail, and Kierland golf clubs. WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT Sometimes called "the Magic Linkdom", Disney boasts five championship courses and 99 holes of golf.
