Savor the leafy shade of Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park with its tall mahogany and ironwood trees. Visit the Cayman Island Turtle Farm, the world's only commercial sea turtle farm, where you'll see hatchlings to breeding adults, as well as rock iguanas, Cayman parrots and the North American crocodiles known as caimans. Cool off with a dive by dipping into Stingray City on Grand Cayman for an up-close encounter with more than two dozen gentle, Atlantic Southern stingrays. Take to the watery depths to explore untold shipwrecks, including the Caribbean's only diveable Russian shipwreck the M/V Captain Keith Tibbets on Cayman Brac. Make the refreshing plunge into the 1,2000-foot-deep Bloody Bay Wall on Little Cayman, one of the world's top dive sites. Windsurf off the East End or head to Cayman Brac to explore the cool limestone caves. Curacao With nearly 40 sandy beaches and countless secluded coves, Curacao is a haven for sunbathers. Divers can explore the waters of Curacao Underwater Park, 12 miles of protected reefs with colorful coral beds, vibrant sea life and historic shipwrecks. Take a breather from the summer sun in the cool caverns of Shete Boka National Park or the limestone passage-ways of Hato Caves, where a mighty waterfall courses among the stalagmites and stalactites. Dominica With rugged mountains and lush rainforests, Dominica is a magnet for hikers. But the "Nature Island" also boasts an unspoiled beach as well as some of the world's top dive sites. Take the plunge at Scotts Head or Soufriere Pinnacle or dip your toes in refreshing Trafalgar Falls near Morne Trois Pitons National Park. Throughout the year many communities have village feasts. Examples are the Feast of St. Peter (held in West coast fishing villages like Dublanc), La Salette in Pointe Michel, or Fete Isidore in Grand Bay. Usually held over a weekend, the feast may start with a church service, followed by events throughout the day, and culminates in a dance in the village hall or school. Dominican Republic Sunbathers flock to Puerto Plata on the island's northerly Amber Coast, a 75-mile stretch of golden and powder-white beaches framed by coconut palms. The calm waters of nearby Playa Dorada or unspoiled Punta Canaalso beckon. Just east of Santo Domingo, more beaches await at Boca Chica and La Romana to the south. To beat the heat, head inland to the cool mountain valleys of Constanza or to Jarabacoa, laced with waterfalls and rivers. Grenada Soak up the sun or take a dip off Grand Anse Beach. Head for cool forests and a whiff of vanilla and nutmeg at the island's famous spice factories. Snorkel at Boss Reef or dive to the wreck of the Bianca C., an 18,000-ton Italian luxury liner. Guadeloupe Head for the sandy beaches of Ste-Anne or St. Francois or off shore to the unspoiled Iles des Santes. Trade winds, called Les Alizes, cool these sun-baked islands and keep windsurfers on course.
